Rotary Vane Compressors

Enjoy Industry Advantage With Hydrovane

  • What are rotary vane compressors?
  • How does rotary vane technology work?
  • What rotary vane air compressors do we offer at Aircare?

Rotary vane compressors are typically oil-lubricated machines that utilise vanes to compress air. They are positive displacement compressors, which means the air compression process involves reducing the volume of the compressor chamber to compress the air. This air is then transferred into a storage container for future use. Find out more about rotary vane technology here.

We’re proud to offer the full range of Hydrovane rotary vane compressors. Aircare’s history with Hydrovane began at our conception in 1991, they were the first product we selected to distribute! They’re made in England, built to last and market leaders, encapsulating everything Aircare set out to achieve. Their durability has stood the test of time and we can’t think of a more fitting machine to have accompanied us throughout our journey so far.

Advantages/Applications

► Long lifespan

Reliable technology with fewer moving parts means less room for error. A Hydrovane can last over 100,000 hours – that is the equivalent of 8 hours of reliable operation every single working day for 40 years!

► Footprint

Hydrovane machines come in both horizontal and vertical formats as well as open or closed casing as standard making finding a machine to fit your operations easy.

► Air quality

Hydrovane compressed air is clean and dry as standard, oil carryover is typically less than 3ppm.

► Low noise

One of the quietest compressors for their size, with noise levels as low as 62 dB(A), they can be located at the point of use.

We are able to supply and install the full Hydrovane range. Not sure which one will fit your operations best? Give us a call on 01536 403808 or email sales@aircarecompressors.co.uk.

Rotary Vane Technology:

Rotary vane technology relies on vanes that are positioned within an off-centre rotor that turns inside a cavity. Due to the rotor being off-centre, when the vanes slide in and out, compression chambers of varying sizes are created. These chambers will then trap air pockets that decrease in size every time the rotor turns. They are oil-lubricated as the vane technology needs something to create the seal. This process compresses the air, which can then be discharged at the outlet at your required pressure.

Unlike reciprocating or piston compressors, they use a spinning technique rather than a pumping motion to compress air. This means their design is more straightforward and has fewer moving parts, resulting in easier maintenance. Their operation is typically very reliable, offering consistent performance and low noise levels with minimal downtime. Regarding their uses, rotary vane air compressors are ideal for continuous duty and can stand up to challenging applications that require uninterrupted operation and optimal productivity. Typically, they are used to power pneumatic tools and dental equipment, as well as for food and beverage processing, sandblasting, tire inflation, woodworking, and even some laundry applications.

Rotary Vane Compressor Simulator

Aircare has been synonymous with Hydrovane, a quintessentially British rotary vane compressor brand since our conception. These efficient compressors use a single-stage oil-injected ‘Hydrovane’ rotary vane air end. By keeping the design to only one moving part, Hydrovane compressors have fewer internal elements that can be subject to breakdowns or inefficiencies, which helps to reduce downtime and maintenance costs. The rotary vane technology is also relatively slow-moving, reducing the stress on your equipment, lowering its operating temperature, and maximising the longevity of the air end. The rotor, blades and stator unit are all made from the same cast iron, meaning they expand and contract at the same rate during compression. This enables low operating temperatures, which allow for excellent air quality, as a slower rotational speed ensures good and efficient heat transfer. To reduce the risk of contamination and equipment damage whilst also further improving air quality, Hydrovane’s expert integral aftercooler ensures the removal of water vapour.

Add this to years of rotary vane improvements, the introduction of compressor controllers, and the Assure extended warranty, the features and benefits really do go on and on – just like your Hydrovane compressor!
