Specialist Engineering Workshop Improves Reliability with New Compressed Air System
A local specialist engineering company operating from a busy workshop was experiencing limitations caused by its existing compressed air supply. In addition, compressed air was only available in limited areas of the workshop, reducing flexibility for operators and creating inefficiencies when using pneumatic tools. The site urgently needed a more reliable source of compressed air, along with improved air quality and distribution throughout the facility to support their operations, so Aircare got to work.
The Solution
Following a detailed site survey our Area Sales Manager, Victor, designed and installed a complete compressed air package tailored to the customer’s operational requirements.
The solution included:
- A new 7.5kW variable speed rotary screw air compressor
- 270-litre galvanised air receiver
- Refrigeration dryer with high-efficiency pre- and after-filtration
- Oil-water separator and condensate management system
- Integration of the existing compressor as a standby unit
- New aluminium compressed air distribution pipework
- Multiple regulated drop points throughout the workshop
The new system was designed to provide clean, dry compressed air while maintaining energy efficiency and ensuring the supply matched our Customer’s demand. The Customer also decided to future-proof their system by retaining their existing compressor as a standby machine on Aircare’s recommendation, ensuring business continuity in the event of planned maintenance or unexpected downtime.
Installation
Aircare engineers delivered and commissioned the complete system with minimal disruption to the customer’s operations.
The installation involved:
- Positioning and commissioning of the new compressor package
- Installation of downstream air treatment equipment
- Integration of the existing compressor into the new system layout
- Installation of 25mm aluminium compressed air pipework
- Creation of multiple regulated air drops complete with quick-release connections for pneumatic tools
- Final testing, commissioning and operator handover
The Outcome
The completed project delivered a modern, reliable compressed air solution capable of supporting current production requirements while providing flexibility for future growth.
Key benefits included:
- Improved compressed air reliability
- Cleaner, drier air supplied to production equipment
- Enhanced workshop accessibility through additional air points
- Reduced risk of downtime through standby compressor integration
- Improved energy efficiency through variable speed technology
- Future-proof compressed air infrastructure
By combining high-quality equipment with a carefully designed distribution system, Aircare helped the customer create a dependable compressed air network that supports productivity across the entire workshop.
